Based in the northeast of Scotland, I have been producing fine art pencil drawings for over ten years. The images in Gallery 1 are just a selection of some the subjects I have been asked to cover. The originals range in size from 594mm by 420mm (A2) to 1189mm by 841mm (A0). I am particularly interested in transport themes (classic cars, motorbikes, locomotives and aircraft) although horses and birds are also of interest.
After having worked for a number of years as a research academic in the field of European forest landscape design, I also became interested landscape photography and have since returned to the discipline, especially black and white. Much of my inspiration has come from the beautiful landscapes of Scotland, Canada, New Zealand and Sweden with coastlines holding a particular fascination. Galleries 2 and 3 contain some examples of this work as well as studies of buildings and the built environment.
As part of my previous career I was also involved in producing photo-realistic landscape simulations using Photoshop and Corel Draw and now use this expertise in a number of aspects of my work . One product is the creation of bespoke montages for special occasions such as retirements and other significant life events using images either supplied by the client, or provided by myself (an example may be found in Gallery 4). I also have the ability to scan or photograph “significant” items which can then be included in the composition in order to more closely reflect the interests of the subject.
I am currently working on getting this site ready for online sales and so in the near future you will be able to buy prints direct from any of the galleries. Meantime, if you would like to commission some original artwork, then please feel free to contact me using the e-mails listed on the contact page or telephone using the numbers provided.
I hope you find the galleries of interest.
